What do I need to play the clip?
Your computer must have a sound system (i.e, with a "sound card" inside it), the tell-tale sign of which are a pair of speakers with power and volume controls (i.e., just because you computer makes beeps and other simple sounds doesn't mean you have a sound system). If you are unsure that you have a sound system and that it is configured to play WAV sound files, click here for a short test: If you hear my voice saying, "You have sound," then you're set. NOTE: If you do think you have sound, and try the test and hear nothing, make sure the volume for your system is turned up high enough.
Also, since you're snagging the file through a web browser, you have to have your browser configured to play WAV sound files, or else you have to save the file to your disk first, then open it with the software that will play WAV files on your sound-equipped computer system.
Let me know (e-mail) if you need assistance.

The current sound clip is a combo of segments I snipped and re-strung from the 1st song of the Seven Generations (Harry's band) CD - "Lasting Impression" (full lyrics below).
Smaller clip (772KB) (mediocre quality). Sorry I had to butcher it to make it a manageable file size.
Quality Details (not important to know to play the file): The file is in *WAV format. It is a large file - 772KB (790,962 bytes). It's a 2min:24sec, very low quality - 5.5kHz 8bit mono (high quality would be like 22-44kHz 16bit stereo, which would be dozens of MegaBytes for this clip).
Larger (~1.37MB = 1,404,334 bytes), much higher quality clip (2min:56sec, ~ another ½min). This is an MPEG-II audio stream, so you need that play capability. Windows 95 should be auto-configured to handle these fine (if you have a sound system). If you encounter a problem, click Start|Run, type "actmovie" and click OK. You need ActiveMovie set to play MPEG files. Need assistance? E-mail me at ndurso@bigfoot.com
Quality Details: This MPEG-II prepared by compressing a 30.2 MEGAbyte, CD quality (44kHz, 16-bit, stereo) WAV file at a Layer-II bitrate of 64Kbits/s joint stereo mode. This is ~22-fold compression (4.5%)!![I'm working on compressing the wav file to a RealAudio filea "streaming" format so it starts to play immediately, instead of having to wait for the whole large file to download to your disk before playing. Anybody out there (i) have an interest in such a format, (ii) know if they have a ready sound system and RealAudio/RealPlayer capability for testing? I need to know: ndurso@bigfoot.com ]
